The story of Helly Hansen began in 1877, in Norway. At that time, Captain Helly Juell Hansen and his wife designed their first rainwear collection for sailors. A century later, the Norwegian brand released its first range of clothing for winter sports, a combination of technical specificities related to sailing and constraints related to the alpine environment.
The very first ski lift was built in Les Contamines in 1937 in Loyers. A few years later, in 1952, the first chairlift was opened at Montjoie. 70 years on the resort boasts 24 lifts, 48 slopes and a ski area that stretches between the Haute-Savoie and Savoie.
By combining the history and identity of both parties, an initial partnership was created in 2008. For the past 6 years the staff at the local Tourist Office and the resort entertainment team have been sponsored by Helly Hansen. Journalists staying in Les Contamines are also equipped from head to toe by the Norwegian brand.
Building on this existing partnership, Helly Hansen won the bid for the renewal of the outfits for employees of the ski lift company. Good value for money, these uniforms are adapted to the different on slope duties.
The partnership between Les Contamines and Helly Hansen doesn’t stop here. This year the Tourist Office, in collaboration with the brand, will organize the first official edition of the Big Mountain Battle in continental Europe. The concept of this event is to cover the ski area as quickly as possible by validating numerous compulsory passage points using your smartphone. Lots of Helly Hansen prizes to be won!
A poster campaign presenting the different outfits worn by the ski lift employees is also in the pipeline together with competitions on the social networks and exclusive promotions.
Finally, the instructors from the ESF in Les Contamines will also wear Helly Hansen jackets next season.
See you on the slopes to discover what’s new!
